The wail of an unfamiliar siren pierced through my sleep and dragged me back into my darkened flat. I clamped my hands over my ears as a defense against the racket. Something niggled at me; a memory of what this siren symbolised but I couldn’t quite catch it. I unsteadily rose to my feet and stumbled across the room to the light switch by the door. I flipped the switch, but nothing happened. Groaning I tried again but nothing; we must have had a power outage when I was asleep. Carefully I wove around the furniture to the window so I could look outside to see where the offensive noise was coming from.
I knew then what the siren was; it was an air raid siren, a sound that had not been heard outside of museums since long before I was born. No warning that it was about to happen. We were under attack.
After years of peace the air raid signals the start of an invasion in the country of Isia by the mysterious Motherhood.
Marissa will face choices that will change the fate of her family and country.
